Just a few hundred metres from the lake at the top of Jahorina, there is a panoramic viewpoint that many visitors to the mountain still do not know about. The point at coordinates 43.718372, 18.555514 is located approximately 400 metres from the lake and offers an exceptionally wide view to the south and southwest.
When the weather is clear and the air is clean, a large part of the Dinaric mountain system opens up before you from this spot. The closest prominent mountains are Treskavica, around 20 kilometres away as the crow flies, and Bjelašnica, approximately 23 kilometres away.
The view then continues further south. Zelengora lies around 35 kilometres away, while Maglić, the highest mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is approximately 50 kilometres away as the crow flies.
But Jahorina’s horizon does not end there. In good visibility, the view reaches all the way to Durmitor in Montenegro, approximately 72 kilometres away.

Five mountains in a single view
It is precisely the breadth of the view that makes this spot so special. From one place, you can observe the mountain ranges of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the direction towards Herzegovina and, when atmospheric conditions allow, the mountains of neighbouring Montenegro.
The viewpoint can be reached from the lake with a short walk, making it an attractive destination even for visitors who are not planning longer hiking tours.
Summer walk from the Poljice Gondola to the viewpoint
During the summer, this is one of the most beautiful short walks at the top of Jahorina. After a ride on the Poljice Gondola, you can take an easy walk towards the lake and continue for another few hundred metres to the panoramic viewpoint. The route is short and pleasant, and along the way you can also explore the activities and attractions at the lake. The viewpoint itself is an excellent spot for photography, selfies, a short rest and enjoying the views towards Treskavica, Bjelašnica, Zelengora, Maglić and, when visibility is good, Durmitor. In winter, visiting the viewpoint is not recommended because of snow, ice, wind and potentially deep snowdrifts. If conditions are stable, the sky is clear and snow accumulation is low, access may be possible, but visitors should assess conditions on the ground and proceed entirely at their own risk.
