Jahorina Travel has launched the quiz “How Well Do You Know Jahorina?” Ten questions on nature, history, skiing and the 1984 Winter Olympics will show how much you really know about the mountain, and the best scores make it onto the weekly leaderboard.
The quiz is for everyone who loves Jahorina: those who come every winter, and those who remember it from childhood, summer holidays or the Olympic year of 1984. The questions vary in difficulty, so seasoned mountain experts may still find something new, while newcomers will pick up interesting stories about its past along the way.
How to play
Each game has ten randomly selected questions with four possible answers, and you have 20 seconds for each one. The questions cover peaks and springs, old hotels and the Pale–Poljice railway, ski runs and lifts, Olympic venues and races such as the Golden Fox. Some questions are photos: you need to recognise the lift, peak or building in the picture.
The quiz is free and needs no registration. You can play five games a day. The quiz is currently available in Serbian.
Speed and streaks earn points
A correct answer is worth 100 points, plus two for every second left on the clock. Answer right away and you get up to 140 points for the question.
A streak of correct answers also earns a bonus: the second correct answer in a row is worth +10, the third +20, the fourth +30, the fifth +40 and every one after that +50. A wrong answer or running out of time ends the streak.
From Greenhorn to Master of Jahorina
Your points earn you one of ten ranks, from Greenhorn (Žutokljunac) through Skier and Ski Instructor to Olympian. The very best earn the title Master of Jahorina (Gospodar Jahorine), from 1,300 points.
At the end of a game you can publish your score under a nickname. The weekly leaderboard starts over every Monday, while the all-time list keeps each player’s best score. You can share your result on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Viber as an image showing your place on the list.
Questions with sources
Every question lists its source, and new topics and photos will be added regularly.
